Either U.N style communitarianism, Neocon corporate hegemony, or Theocracy. Should there be one world government at all?

The bigger the government, the worse it functions, the more tyrannical its practices.

No way.

No way...as we all know, the U.N. accomplishes pretty much nothing...imagine if all the world looked to it for leadership...not a comforting thought...

Any kind of corporate run world is going to have a 1 percent or less of the world population living the good life...and the rest of us living out our lives as servitors....

And as for a Theocracy, I don't see how that is possible....it has been thousands of years already, and we are still killing each other over who has the right God on their side...

In order to truly have a central, one-world government...we would have to eliminate world ignorance, make sure every one is fed and disease free...kill anyone who insists on using human beings as a natural resource....and then have a giant parliamentary system...with everyone educated as to the state of the world as a whole...

You would then have to repress current senses of individual nationalism...and somehow, someway, have every on the planet think of ourselves as Earthlings first, above all else...

Absolutely NOT.

First, this would never work. People are too different, and those like the islamofascists could never get along with those who don't think like they do.

Second, this type of government could never be responsive to the needs of the people. For instance, the way the US Constitution was set up, the State governments had more power than the federal government. lincoln perverted this, and now the US government is very unresponsive to the needs of the people.

As far as dancingdudesean's answer, I'd suggest that he go to iran, china, north korea, etc. and "trust" these people with his "world peace".

Nay. A one world government does not equate into no more wars between individual countries or stop civil unrest. It also does not equate that the ruler or rulers plural will be friendly to all the people they should be governing. In fact since human nature has not changed in any millennium, the general rule of thumb would follow:
Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Nay, it wouldn't work. That's the whole problem we are in the situation we are in currently.

Islam thinks we are all infidels cause we don't worship their God.

Russia (they're still operating like a communist country) and China is Communist.

Cuba won't give up socialism. Now Venezuela is doin it.

If people don't start respecting other people, the earth will blow up and we can all see who was right, or not.

No, because the needs of people vary region to region and can't be met with one singular government. However, I think world governments could do a better job of working together than they currently do.

Well conservatives would never trust the evils of world peace kept by a single government.

It is not a matter of should there be one. It's quite clear from Biblical prophecy that there will be one world government. It is just a matter of time. One government means there will be one currency. If you look at Europe, they are close at having one currency. If you look at America, they are also not far from having one. I mention these two continents because they are the ones that are controlling or greatly influencing the world.

It can never happen. The world is being broken up into smaller and smaller countries.
