After American Idol I decided I would give this show a chance. All I have to say is the whole premise of the show is flawed beyond the point of utter lunacy. How exactly does random facts that these kids have just recently been taught correlate to the intelligence of an adult who has been absent from school for quite some time, let alone elementary school--and what's to say these contestants were even taught these things to begin with? One of the questions was "What month is Columbus Day in"? I have no clue, because it just some silly random fact. This show mistakes someone who knows trivial facts as intelligent, instead of actual intelligence, which in itself is extremely difficult to measure because there are so many factors to take into consideration. The idea of the show isn't so bad...actually scratch that; it is. What do you folks think?

I haven't seen the show, but you make a good point. Sometimes you learn totally pointless stuff in 5th grade that you forget quickly. And the kids have just learned, and they haven't had to toss out that many useless facts to make room for new important ones.

So, yes, I think this show is stupid. I guess it could be a good way to test what you remember from 5th grade, and it maybe provide some entertainment, but I don't think it's that great. It also provides the illusion that people who know random facts are smart, which is not true (I'm not saying that they're stupid, just that knowing random facts doesn't gurantee that you're smart).

I'm a teacher, and I enjoyed the show. People really do forget a lot of the little things they learned in school, and this show kinda pokes fun at that. And I think a lot of people might like it for the same reason we like watching Jay Leno's "Jay Walking" segments on the Tonight Show, where he goes out on the street and asks people questions about more or less everyday things and they have no clue! It makes us feel smart when we know the answers and others don't.

By the way, Columbus Day is a National Holiday, with banks and post office closed, and a lot of schools and businesses close for that day, so I would think most people should know when it is. Which is October.

Well, Im not as smart as I wished I was, so getting the answers on the show right made me feel a lil smarter than I give my credit score. Its common knowledge, (being brought up and taught in American schools) for the most part, its just hard to remember with years of crap piled on top of it. But, at the same time, its not Jeopardy, its not to show how smart people are, but how smart the kids are. Then how indifferent they will become as adults. And by the way, Columbus Day is in October. Maybe youre smarter than me in every other aspect of life, but it sounds like that question got your goat. Watch it for fun, and if it bothers you this damn bad...try out for Jeopardy and see how smart you really are.

I think it is important to know this stuff. Like how to find the area of a triangle, what rapid eye movement means, who the first president to be impeached was, and what month columbus day is in. Some of the questions people dont know, but if you dont know the answers to the questions, then dont go on the show. I think its funny how a UCLA grad couldnt answer 3 questions correctly by himself. Thats just sad. But in my opinion, I think the show is funny and entertaining.

The show was stupid and I already know that I am not smarter than a 5th grader because I have two at home and I forgot most of the stuff that they are studying. Most of this stuff is meaningless and forgotten by the time that you are an adult but I would never tell them that. By the way the only people who will love this show is 5th graders.

People have been trying to make a show like this for years.
The main problem is that Adults, whether contestants or simply viewers, don't like to think that a child can be smarter than them, as you have proven.
It is pretty much another show which makes people look stupid, this time however they use smart children to do that.

The show may be stupid, but the first contestant was the worst because he proved that the show may actually make a point since he got every freaking answer wrong!

My gawd dude it is just a tv show. America is just trying to get by with a little creative entertainment. If you really have a problem with the show i think you should write to fox or write to the producers of the show!!!!!!!
