This is not only a questions ans answers. you have to think it very seriously.Don't try to through the ball in the Government site that all the problum are created by the government. We have to move ahead and am always with u.
In the end it all comes down to us being human beings, all of us. We can discuss the problems, we can call it by various names, relate even to karma, the law of fate, yet we come to know our own tree by its fruits as well as the trees of others. Is there something we can do here and now? If we live in richness, can we reach out? If we live close to poverty, what can we do? Nations and governments work slowly, and history changes at an alarmingly slow rate, and at the same time people die from poverty. We are all a part of the world, and the world is thus our making as well. Our contribution might be small or big, but we can, where we are, give a helping hand to those around us. All the love religions proclaim this truth of loving thy neighbour as thyself. There are many social, corporate,NGO and govt. organigations are doing very good job in this field.
My question is if we are not all very closely related, as cells in an organ? What one cell does affects the health of the organ ultimately, and the general health of the organ affects the cells. We perhaps have to grow out of the notion of nationalism and boarders in order to enter a new world where all of us matters, no matter where we live, where my salary in Sweden has to be compared with a salary in India or China in the end, because as long as there is rich and poor, divided by boarders, as long will the exploitation go on, and as long will we, Earthly citizens live in one form of poverty or another, as long can we pretend that it does not matter what happens on the other side of the Earth. But it does, it does! It all happens in one or another part of the global body.

When people come forward to make the poor aware of their rights and give them a hope of better life, half the problem of poverty is reduced. There are several programmes offered by Government and N.G.O's related to Education, Health, Skill development Programmes and Self-Employment Schemes for the deprived youth which is not utilized properly due to lack of awareness or ignorance in the poor.
What matters the most is when people like you come forward give them a hope for better life , show confidence in them and help them in choosing right path. (This path may be Education or show them some NGO where they will be dealt properly) Few encouragement words will prove wonders in their life.
When you take the Nation's problem and objective as your personal problem then there won't be any poverty in India. We have got enough resources but no one wants to interfere into Nation's Problem then this problem will never get resolved.
LAstly i want to ask you 'did you ever ask your maid or her children about their studies?' You will come to know that they will be doing the same job as their parents do. Intervene into their problems and change their thinking, suggest them with some solution. Many N.G.O's are trying their best in several regions inorder to overcome this problem, consult them if you are v.interested.

One thing that is observed is that many people from rural area and villages come to cities and towns thinking that they can make more money. They leave their farming & agricultural profession but they have a hard life in cities. In the process the poverty lines increases and these people are not able to lead a good life.
Small scale industries should open up in villages and industries should be decentralized. This will create even distribution of people across the country and poverty can be minimized.

Have you ever read the book One Nation Underpriviledged by Mark Rank. He has a very good way of telling the reader what needs to be done. I just finished reading the book in my poverty and welfare class. I will give you a quick overview. He starts out by saying that society needs to realize that poverty is everyones problem and not just the poors. He says that there needs to be a better safety net also. More jobs, better paying jobs, child care, housing, community services, etc., but the first step is to bring awareness.

Let us talk about poverty of food. Overcoming poverty can be directly linked with growth of population which is to be overcome first and it is a slow process even after strong will is there.
But if we talk about poverty of will which is visible around us, poverty of food can never be overcome.

*Half the world — nearly three billion people — live on less than two dollars a day.
*The GDP (Gross Domestic Product) of the poorest 48 nations (i.e. a quarter of the world’s countries) is less than the wealth of the world’s three richest people combined.
*Nearly a billion people entered the 21st century unable to read a book or sign their names.
*Less than one per cent of what the world spent every year on weapons was needed to put every child into school by the year 2000 and yet it didn’t happen.
*1 billion children live in poverty (1 in 2 children in the world). 640 million live without adequate shelter, 400 million have no access to safe water, 270 million have no access to health services. 10.6 million died in 2003 before they reached the age of 5 (or roughly 29,000 children per day).
to overcome sucha poverty is not a easy one.....
1.self employment method has to be taught.
2.govt.can provide people with food with subsidy.
3.educational scholarships can be given.
4.the poverty zones can be brought under special area zones and govt. can keep a check over them regarding their progress.
this is feasible ina developing country where as in underdeveloped country implementing such things ..i dont think itz possible!

Money is blown on ridiculous things. I am sick of seeing these houses on tv worth millions of dollars while there are starving people in the world, nobody needs a eight bedroom, eight bath house unless they have a lot of people living there! The city I live close to is going to spend millions of dollars to pretty up a river! They are planting flowers and trees and stuff. It makes me sick, they dont have to do that! The rich keep getting richer and the poor keep getting poorer, probably most of the people who want to help dont have the money to do so. And there is a lot of people who just dont care about anything but themselves and the people they know. They pretend it is not happening.

In some ways a socialist state is really good. Everyone has enough to eat, has enough clothes-maybe not the clothes they want, but enough clothes, satisfactory housing. There is no class system>like we've had for a long time, but its getting worse (super rich people and the worker bees)
