The primary result is there were fewer terrorists around to kill Israelis. Unfortunately, Wrath of God had a backlash, and actually increased terrorism in the Middle East once the real story became known.

I would suggest watching "Munich". Excellent film that covers this topic well.

Yesterday they showed on Israeli TV a documentary on the 1972 Olympics murder of the 9 Israeli sportspeople. 1972 was a year the Black September terrorists became global in their terrorist deeds. They involved other governments and forced them to take part in the Arab-Israeli conflict, forced them to face the consequences of international terrorism. Ever since 1972 terrorism has crossed borders, caused governments to work together on security issues - if there was a doubt of any country that terrorism won't happen on its soil, the Munich assassination showed them they could be next. More so, if once a government declined any help from other governments in dealing with inside terror (like in Munich, they refused help from Israeli officials) this attitude changed.
