I asked this because recently I heard about a law of some sort that their trying to pass in California that prohibits anyone from spanking their child if the child is under 5? Anyone else heard about this? I may have the state wrong, but I'm on the east coast, and I'm sure whatever state is was, was out west.

And when our children get pregnant, it becomes our problem right? I think its wrong for the government/state to not allow us to spank our kids. Isnt that how we teach them when they are younger? When they get a bit older and want things, we can always cut them off of their video games, computers, bikes, etc etc. At a young age, what can we cut them off of? Nothing....They dont want anything..We certainly cant cut off their food...they will die...so how do we teach them? we cant if we cant spank them....this is wrong by the government...and another argument is that...if we cant spank them, then how the hell do we get charged when our kids do something wrong? this isnt fair....

I heard about the spanking thing too. That was overboard! I believe I heard where that person who introduced that bill decided not to follow through with it.

As far as teachers/doctors/cps having too much say in how the kids are raised, I believe thats partly parents fault. unfortunately, some kids just arent getting proper parenting at home, if they get any at all. So its left up to the teachers and doctors and social workers to do the job.

I think parents should be held more accountable, and the teachers/doctors/cps should back off! =)

Someone has to raise your kids... most parents won't anymore, and the television is doing a piss poor job.

Besides, teachers are more responsible legally for the failings of a child than the parent so why shouldn't they have a say. Maybe if people would quit using the it's not my fault blame someone else theory we could get back to it being the way it should be.

No one, especially in government has a say in the raising of your kids!

These bleeding heart do gooders, think they know better than you and have sneaked in these laws while you were watching either your sports or soaps when you should have been paying attention what they were doing
Yes it was CA and the bill failed, for now.

The people that have to much say in raising the kids of today are the child care workers, the nannies and daycare centres in the first years of their life I cant see the point of having kids if you don't want to raise them and change your lifestyle to fit them in.

the state needs to keep their dumb ignorant assses out of parents business when it comes to raising kids. children are growing up to being hateful to parents and breaking the law. you ever hear of the true story about 4 teen age girls burning a 12 year old alive? it was over one girl liking her and her lover got mad. at one point the state walked in and told the girl parents( the teen who orchestrated the murder) they was to hard on her. all the parents did was make the unruly biotch go to church and she complained to children services. go figure. now the 4 girls are sitting in prison. they was all under 18 years.
