Im curiouse if you have to pass a criminal history, or backround check when exiting the u.s., or entering the u.k., and what questions customs would ask you upon arriving in the u.k.

If you are just visiting the UK on a vacation the checks are minimal, such as are you on a terrorist watch list, a no fly list, a fugitive etc.

When you arrive they may ask you what the nature of your stay is, where you are staying, when you are leaving, things of that nature.

The checks become more stringent if you are planing an extended stay for more than a few months.

No criminal checks but a bit of an interigation at immigration, still it is no more so than a Brit trying to enter the US.

Can you imagine the work that would need to be done to check the criminal records of all the Yanks that enter the UK every year. Unless of course a criminal record is entered into the new biometric passports that the US government is insisting upon.

If you have nothing to declare walk through the 'Green' channel and out into the UK. If you have something to declare.

If you are travelling from outside the EU (and I suppose you are) do not go through the Blue channel as this is for the exclusive use of EU nationals with nothing to declare.

I hope the links below help.
