I think most men are not up to the challenge of keeping several women happy even if they are seduced by the idea of variety in their sex life. Most women in the West are too jealous and selfish to be able to coexist peacefully this way. So it will never make the big time.

Think about this: if a person can love more than one child, more than one parent, more than one brother or sister, more than one friend, then it is possible to love more than one partner. But, you'd have to be an extraordinary person to pull it off.

There's another word: polyamory. Loving more than one.

I think about it this way: if a man has to decide between having a relationship with another woman or marrying that other woman, then I don't think many men would be "men enough" to do that! That's why polygamy is allowed in the east. Men can NOT have sex unless they are married, so if a man goes astray he will have to fulfill these conditions:
1. Get the consent of his first wife.
2. Marry the other woman before he cheats on his wife, so he will think about it not just twice but 100X.
3. Equally divides his time & money between his wives.
These are the conditions of having more than one wife. So I think it limits infidelity, unlike what the western people think about it as an extra bonus to the man. What do you think if I may ask?

Polygamy is allowed by Allah the only one God but Allah hates it much.It is spoken in the holy Qur'an.Polygamy is allowing a husband for having more than one wife up to 4 as the maximum as an emergency door for husband. But Allah spoke in the holy Qur'an that a muslim can not act fairly and justice to all of his wives,so God wants muslim only has one wife..Besides that polygamy will hurt the wife.I think most women muslim are not ready to be in the big family of their husbands who have more than one wife..It is better if a man has only one wife because it will make happy for his wife and kids. Now everything isexpen- sive so maintaining a family with 4 wives will need more money for their living cost.People said that love can not be divided
.Having more than one wife will bring jealousy among the wives and will bring also sorrowful..Polygamy will bring more unfavourables than its favourables..Usually the husband will often tell a lie to his wives.for covering his unfairness.

if there is a real basis for polygamy, yes. but then again, i can't think of any. previously, polygamy was practised among muslims because the number of women outnumbered men (i believe it was war, but i stand corrected). now, i don't see the basis. it breeds jealousy and competition among women. it's not like women can't live without men... so, really, i don't see the basis.

its ok if a woman can have many husbands as well, not just the man with a bunch of ladies and the ladies only one man, know what i mean?! Personally i don't think i could handle more than one but if people practice it it should be fair because then it's just sexist to only let males in on it.

To be honest, I think the United States doesnt allow it because their religion doesnt. But, not everybody is a christian. I myself am a Catholic and my religion doesnt allow it. But, for the United States to not allow it is wrong. I thought the state has nothing to do with religion? It is right or wrong according to each person's own religion and nothing more. Isnt our species in existence to create off spring and thrive?

I think that if the ADULTS (not kids forced into marriage) are consenting and willing then there is not problem with it. There have been several cases where it works, but a lot where it doesn't. I guess it all depends on what the persons' intentions are.

You shouldn't take more than you can handle. And I don't know too many men who understand how to treat ONE woman properly, let alone a bunch of them!

It's not sacred. There would be too much jealousy and confusion in the family.
