ANSWERS: personification and metaphor

'waves bow before the shore'-personification

metaphor- comparing waves to courtiers without using like or as.
If they would have said "waves bow before the shore LIKE courtiers to their king........." it would be considered a similie because it is a comparison of two thing using the words like or as

personification is the applying of human-like qualities to something not-living (hands on a clock)

The night has many eyes is personification also

The waves bowing as courtiers is PERSONIFICATION.

"bow" "before" "shore" "courtiers" all have long "Oh" sounds. When vowels sound alike you have ASSONANCE.

"The night has many eyes" is a metaphor.
