My finace is a accounting student and he is looking into getting in with the FBI after graduation. His professor told him that they are the among the highest employers for accountants. I don't think that would be a boring job working for the FBI. Not sure how much money he will make but it should be fun. His aunt is an accountant in Houston and makes will over $100K a year. Nice lifestyle!!! But do what is going to make you happy and able to get through the day.

I've made a variety of salaries over my 14 years as an accountant. They've ranged from $40k working part time to over $100k. If I wanted to focus more on my career I could be making much more than $100k. At some point though you realize that you can't take it with you (and taxes are horrible when you make six figures and beyond) so now I just work part time (for about $50k) to have more time with my kids, take vacations, etc.

Accounting jobs can be boring, but they can also be very exciting and challenging. It all depends on which kind of job your are talking about. Being an international tax manager for a large corporation was anything but boring. Now I teach accounting at a university for eight months of the year and that certainly isn't boring either.

Accounting jobs are not great...

it is a job you do to make money, and to work, not to have fun.
