I am interested in getting my GED instead of finishing High School. I was wondering what were the requirments for getting a GED.
Do you have to be a certain age or in a certain grade?
Also, what is the difference between a GED and the High School Proficiency Exam, and which one is better?
I live in california, if the requirments vary by state
Thanks so much

I am a sophomore at the moment. and i planned on going to community college.
Im not trying to boast or anything, but my parents and counselor agree that im bored with high school and need to move on. My counselor left it up to my parents and i to decide if i wanted to wait it or or take my GED or High School Proficiency Exam. My counselor just failed to inform me about either

If you are still in High School you really should try to finish, an actual diploma looks better than a GED, and you will be glad you stuck it out. If you already out of High School you should be able to take the GED at any time. You can check with your school district to find out where the test if given, then you will need to sign up, and pay the fee. Usually you can schedule yourself for any given test day, so you can have time to study if you need it.

Good Luck

all i know is that future employers and colleges see a high school diploma as more valuable than a GED. as far as I know, if you are no longer enrolled in high school, you are eligible to take the GED. why don't you want to finish high school? you can't have more than a couple of years left. in the long run, this is a better option.
