My daughter just graduated last year with an Associate's degree in Accounting. She got a great job right away--enough to support her family. So, yes, you can do that.

Ask the advisors at the community college if they have that program. Not all colleges have all programs. If they don't, they will work with you to be sure you get all the courses you need.

My daughter says it's good to get the Associate's and the job first, because some companies will pay for you to finish your Bachelor's degree after you have worked there a while.

Be sure to talk to the people in Financial Aid at the college, and talk to an advisor at your high school, because there are special scholarships--not huge, but really helpful--for people going for certain degrees. As an example, McDonald's has programs that pay for business courses for its employees.

Good luck. My daughter is really happy with what she is doing. You've chosen a really good field.

If you want to become a CPA, most states require five years of higher education. You can certainly get a job in accounting with just an associates degree, but you'll move up slower, make less, have more tedious jobs, and have fewer options down the road.
