Actually, I think there have been a few bassists that have performed that in concert with Herbie. Have to research which particular performance you might be looking for.
Example:
Paul Jackson (bass guitar); on The Herbie Hancock Box CD (which I have)
Buster Williams (bass guitar); on Ken Burns JAZZ Collection CD
Paul Jackson (electric bass); on This Is Jazz #35 CD
and there are others...
