Sometimes it is. But if it something crucial to the relationship, I would want to as soon as possible. I hate surprises later on down the road.

I finally had to face the truth that my daughter is self-centered and cares only about her own happiness - not that of her daughter or family. That was a hard thing to accept and even harder to live with.

Sometimes it's almost impossible! It's like looking at love through rose colored glasses. Love is blind and hind sight is 20/20, that's why it's a good idea to have a friend to watch your back...they see things more clearly then you do. Sounds like you are having some doubts and I hope you can work through them unscathed.

The hardest. You put the one you love on a pedestal. It's not fair of us to do it to them, they inevitably fall. But part of loving someone is loving them for their faults, not in spite of them.
However, you also need to recognise when loving someone who is bad for us is destructive. Its easy to be pulled down and you have to make the choice to love yourself more.
