Strong individual talent, but they've got to play like a team and most of all, THEY'VE GOT TO PLAY SOME DEFENSE! The reason they're not winning despite all the talent is the same reason the U.S. team has been losing to less talented international teams in recent years. This is not individual figure skating or tennis, BASKETBALL IS A TEAM SPORT.

AI. before the trade the nuggets are playing good bball because they have 2 point guards who can get their offensive sets to run smoothly. miller is a pass first veteran guard who is very good at orchestrating half court sets for camby, smith, and of course, melo. if they want to speed up the game, they use boykins to lead the attack. these 2 guards dont need a lot of shots to get their game going. and there is only one undisputed leader on the floor, who has a license to take 25-30 shots a game.
now, a sucker punch and 15 games later, here comes AI and melo taking 40 shots combined and turning the ball over 8 per game. what happens to the rest of the team? they bleed for points, even for mere touches in their very limited minutes.
what's done is done. i guess what they can do to save their season is play blake more than iverson with jr smith at the guard spot and anthony at the small forward. this trio will be the focal point of teh offense and they could even play small ball and run the opposition to the ground. let iverson come off the bench when anthony is taking a blow, then play a 2 man game with nene or camby. he can create off the dribble and feed the big men.
it might be too early to say, but the AI trade is a really bad deal for the nuggs. they get to pay a huge contract and lose draft picks for a guard with a big ego and is never a team player

Short answer: no defense.
Long answer: KMart is not happy and wants to be traded; he's not much of a rebounder or defender, so they should let him go if anyone will take him. Camby has been in and out of the lineup with a series of minor injuries. Anthony doesn't play off-the-ball defense and is constantly getting beat with weakside picks. Nene has battled his knee this year and other injuries. JR can do only one thing: shoot. Blake isn't bad, but he's also been playing hurt. Kleiza can be good in spurts but isn't consistent. Evans, while a monster on the boards, is not an offensive threat. AI, while a brilliant scorer and clutch player, has too many turnovers to be considered a great point guard. AND THE ENTIRE TEAM NEEDS TO PLAY BETTER DEFENSE!! Opponents are shooting 46% from the field against them, placing them 10th in the West. Top teams in defensive FG% are Houston, San Antonio, Dallas and Utah; it's no coincidence that they are also the top four teams in the West.

The Nuggets are a great team...if they can pull it together. They have many great one on one players, Iverson..Melo..JR. But they all need to learn to share the ball before this average team can become good. Camby is the one player I would not trade on this team because he is pretty much the one defensive presence(until Martin gets back, but he is always injured). Camby gets most of the team's boards and blocks. He is decent at steals as well. If Iverson can learn to share the ball better, and Melo improve on his court vision, the Nuggets will become very strong.

The main problem is defensively. AI is a liability on that side of the ball because of his size. Smith and Melo just don't care. The only healthy player who could be considered a defensive presence is Camby. The front line is made up of injury prone players (Camby k-mart and nene) and there threee scorers all needd the ball in their hands. Carmello is there only good shooter and he is more of a mid range jump shooter. AI and JR are both volume shooters. The brawl didn't help either.

Not enough time together. Too much pressure to win also. A relaxed team that plays as one will always win a long drawn out game, and They are neither relaxed or Cohesive.

Too many injuries for them to actually develope chemistry on the court. As soon as they start to have a little chemistry someone gets injured.

I think you have answered your own Question, It's Defense.
They don't help out when teammates get beaten on the floor. They looked like Dallas Mavericks from Don Nelson era
