I am unable to play DVDs. I receive the message "Playback failed due to a problem with the video subsystem. Lowering your screen resolution or color depth may fix the problem." This problem is with all the Players.I aldready restored my PC once and before restoration I would be able to watch DVDs too.

These are the details:-

RAM : 1024MB (1GB)
Hard Drive : 80GB
LightScribe Super Multi 8X DVD+R/RW drive with Double Layer support

I also tried VLC Player as many people said but that did'nt work. I hope you can help me in solving the problem.

It sounds like you need to install a DVD decoder. Windows media player doesn't support DVD playback out of the box - it needs a software decoder. Check out the microsoft website for adding DVD playback:

It's possible that the driver for your video card needs updating. Try going to the manufacturer of your video card, and download the driver for the card and install it. Hope this helps.

Hi!
Since it says that lowering your screen resolution might make it work again, why don't you try that:

-Right click on desktop
-click properties
-click settings (tab)
-lower the resolution

Hope this helps!
