Why not see both? They are so close in proximity.
I have lived in Germany and I know there's tons to see and do and it's really pretty.
I visited Czechoslavakia before it was split into two countries and at the time (1993) they were rejuvenating their tourist towns, fixing up the buildings and the economy was just starting to boom. I'm sure by now it's a beautiful area.
So my suggestion is: See Germany but squeeze in visits to surrounding countries if you can. Austria is pretty cool, too!

I have been to both Germany, and Slovakia. They are somewhat close, so it may be possible you could see both of them. Why not check out Switzerland and Austria as well? Bratislava, Slovakia's main city, is not too far from Vienna, Austria, and it is easy to take the train to either city! I went down through the Rhineland of Germany, and I took a Rhine River cruise. During the cruise I saw several different styles of castles, and Lorelei's Rock. The journey through the Rhineland was interesting, and we passed the Black Forest while we were on the autobahn. My time in Germany did not include any of the large citites (maybe I'll see them some other time!) There are many cities and tourist attractions in Germany, and it pays to do some research using books and online resources! In Slovakia I visited Bratislava on a day trip from Vienna, Austria. Things aren't as expensive in Slovakia as they are elsewhere in Europe. There is a castle on a hill in Bratislava. There is also a very interesting suspension tower that stands over the highway. The tower has a high speed elevator, and the top of the tower kind of looks like a flying saucer. There is a restaurant at the top of the tower which offers interesting views of the area. The tower (being a suspension tower) is known to sway back and forth on windy days. I didn't have time to check out the bug museum in Bratislava, but it looked like fun from the outside of the building! I also had a very delicious Slovakian dish in a restaurant while I was on my day trip. The waiter spoke English, and he was very friendly! He even taught me how to say "thank you" in Slovakian. I think the best way to decide (if you're only visiting one of the two countries) is to do some research to find out about the people in each country, and to see what each country offers as far as hotels, tourist attractions, and natural beauty.

If I had to choose I would say Slovakia, Germany has lots of money the tourist sites are too polished and lets face it its a western country so other than the language and a few castles ( OK there is lots of nice sights) its not too much of a stretch culturally. Slovakia is just emerging from its communist past and to me is way more interesting, great mountains, great history, small towns, lots of castles and in some places you can feel like you are in the middle ages, oh yeah its also MUCH cheaper than Germany.

If you are in the Munich area of Germany, its not too far a ride on the rails to get to Slovakia. You just have to go through Austria, which is beautiful by the way.

you're in Europe, you're in simple terms no longer in mainland Europe. Italy - you've were given to make sure Venice, Florence and Naples. Rome in case you should. Venice is particularly particular. France - Paris. Musee d'Orsay is cool. Germany - Munich, the mountains and castles interior the South. Austria - Salzburg and Vienna, both wonderful. Hungary - Budapest is gorgeous. The Statue Park is worth finding out. Czech Republic - Prague is a fine looking city, i'd pass decrease back tomorrow. Spain - Barcelona is reliable, fairly the Gaudi homes. Netherlands - Amsterdam is more suitable than drugs, yet then the Netherlands is more suitable than Amsterdam also, try the city of Groningen interior the North, or Utrecht interior the centre. I lived in Groningen for 6 years, so i'm very very keen on the position. Denmark - the Carlsburg brewery and city of Copenhagen is a ought to. in the different case convey beer in from Germany, because it really is totally intense priced in Denmark. i'm planning on going to Greece, Cyprus. Portugal, Norway, Russia, Finland, Morocco and different places in jap Europe ultimately. In a majority of those places, thoughts your own home, I stuck a lady attempting to scouse borrow my wallet from my belt bag in Barcelona at the same time as i became there, so it takes position. thoughts your self and luxuriate on your holiday!

Germany, if you are looking for something "safe" of a high standard and a bit more expensive, Slovakia, if you are looking for exploring something new.
I would choose Slovakia

Slovakia! I was born in Prague, Czechslovakia. Now that the long name country has been divided into two...Why not give Slovakia a visit since it's unique in its own ways...Try Bratislava..;)
