I have a manager that has been with the store that i work for,for about two or three weeks now.I tried to call in sick one day last week, but I had to go in to work, sick,The next day I did call in sick, from what I've heard my manager didn't like that he thought I was trying to get out of not working.I have been working at my job for nine years.I haven't called in sick for almost four years.Today,he had me take a very late break, and then only twenty minutes later,he had me take my lunch.I get along with the store directore, and the other managers, just not him so much.I don't want to feel like i'm complaining about another person.I feel like I don't belong there after today,I want to get another job, waht do you think I should do.?

Move on. Life is too short to punch a clock. You may not know, until you're happy in your next career, how miserable you really are today.

He obviously got the wrong impression of you. It was unfornuate that you were ill when he came on board. A doctor's excuse would have given your call a little more credience. Don't leave, it sounds like you are a valuable employee so show him your stuff and let him realize that first impressions are not always the right one. Its easy to make wrong assumptions based on a few facts. But when he finds that he can depend on you then you will see a difference in his opinion of you. You do have your work cut out for you. Remember, he is the one trying to fit in and get the pecking order right so do your best. No one is perfect not even him, having scheduled your break and lunch so close together. He does not have it all straight either. So give him a break. And help him to get the store off to a great start. When managers start, they some times make mistakes about store operations. Good managers take time to evaluate why things are the way they are before they make changes and not all their changes are good ones. He has alot to prove to the owners and even though he has not said it he is counting on all of his employees to help him make the store the best with the best sales. Good luck.

don't run from your problems , stand up and confront them. You say you have been there 9 years and don't call in sick very often, then this manager decides he is going to make an example for the others to see. Don't quit your job because one bad apple is in the bunch. Talk to him and tell him what you think and feel. Then if he still is a jerk about it go to his boss and let them know what is happening. Yes this will make it rough for a few weeks but things should get back to normal after that. If not then you need to make up your mind , is your job more important than your sanity or do you need the income so bad that you will just have to put up with the mental stress. Either way you must decide to step up and handle things like this or you will always be looking for another job.

I would not worry about it too much. If you rarely get sick then you should not have a problem even if he does not like people taking sick days off. The break and lunch hour thing is probably coincidental.
However if you feel that you need a change of scenery, there is no reason not to look for another job.

Did you approach your manager about your feelings yet? If you did, how did it go. If not then you should. Stay calm and smile alot when your talking him/her. Let 'em know that you got nothing against 'em, but you feel like your being treated unfair. If he doesn't wanna talk go to the store director. Don't stress too much about it, because you've been working there 9 years right? If your store director doesn't do anything about it, then you need to be somewhere else. The way I see it, things happen for a reason, and they need you more than you need them. good luck and let me know the good news.

We have the same problem where i work my boss is very anal about people calling out and she will not let you, unless you have coverage which is hard to do if you are the only quaified person for that position i would def look into talkin to someone in human resources about that problem and when you call them you can remain anoymous, if your unhappy with your job then don't sweat it get something lined up and say goodbye..

Do you like your job? That would be the first thing I would ask myself. It sounds to me like he is using retailiation against you & that is not permitted so if I were you I would use the open door policy & go higher up to solve that issue. Even if there isn't anybody else higher in the store you can always call corporate. I hope this helps you, good luck!

Dear
You should make your Manager realise what he has done to you and how you have felt for that
If you have a clean record of nine years then no need to worry put your case to senior level Mangers or Director They will solve it

Express your opinion about breaks and having sick people at work to the store owner or human resourses.

i have to say , that sucks. is there a superior that you can talk to? don't quit your job because of one new power hungry person. i have been there. they will make or break their own job. do your job as you have been, and obviously after nine years, its good. they will be called on to answer for their actions. if its a corporation, there are guidelines that everyone has to abide by.
