What has France contributed to the world?

This is serious, I can't think of anything useful that they have given the rest of the world.

In WWII, we helped France. The French were at best reluctant to join us in the Revolutionary War. Besides, I said WORLD.

America was the first Democracy since the Athenians, and the French were inspired by OUR constitution. That is Historic fact.

How about Democracy? Did you know that the US Constitution was inspired by the French Revolution? The concept of Equality, Fraternity, and Unity were ignited there.
Then there's champaigne..., wines and cheeses, art and artists, and ... oh, Liberalism. That erases everything, doesn't it?

They gave us Americans the Statue of Liberty. They helped fight our war for independence against the British and they helped us fight against the German Nazi machine in WWII. I would say they have done a lot for us. In general, the French aren't as bad as the media makes them out to be. A bit stuck up perhaps, but that's all.

Indeed we helped France during WWII, but if you read your history books you would know that the French military helped clear the way for the Americans to land on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day. You would also know that the French resistance deterred many of the German regiments away from the American military. There is no gurantee we would have won WWII without the aid of the French and Dutch resistance groups at hand.

I would go with the first answer from libs4kids. Statue of Liberty for the Americans and the principles to live by in a democratic country. Aside from introducing classy wines and champagne to the world, they taught the world about culture. They know a lot about good manners. They know how to enjoy their food, about taking time to eat and thus not suffer from indigestion. They have a romantic language I like listening to.
