Both are great bands... My favorite is Led Zeppelin by far, and here is my breakdown using your guidlines. But it is VERY close

Vocal: Freddie Mercury from Queen has a slight advantage over Robert Plant from LZ. The vocal range and clarity is amazing.

Lyrics: The lyrical messages behind nearly of all LZ's songs are mind boggeling. From Ramble On, that was directly influenced from Lord of the Rings. And Stairway to Heaven which has many subtle messages attached.

Influence: Very few bands can claim that they have not been influenced by Led Zeppelin. Considering Stairway still holds the #1 most requested song in history, and their impact was much greater than Queens.

Emotional: **See Lyrics

Guitar: Jimmy Page will remain on the list of top 10 rock guitarist for a LONG time.

Live: Wasn't alive to see either sadly, but from stories I heard Queen would probably take the show

Overall Skills: LZ has Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and John Bonham all in one. 4 amazing musicians

Sound: Both were relying on late 60's early 70s recording equipment, so I honestly say it is a tie.

Video Clip: None

I'm going with Queen on this one. Much respect to Zep - after all they DID have Bonzo who was one of rocks best drummers, and Page was a dynamic force and a great production asset to the Zep sound. But, Queen really did it for me, all of them fantastic musicians and songwriters as well. Freddie Mercury was one of the most brilliant underrated musicians and vocalists ever! people didn't take him quite as serious though for some reason - he was a very talented pianist and arranger (though he never thought that of himself) , and he had the ability to sing multi-part tracked harmonies so perfect that the tracks on a tape would phase with themselves because they were so close together , you tell ME whoever is capable of THAT. And what can i say about Brian May! One of the greatest (still is) guitarists of all time, and a fine well singer/songwriter in his own right.

I have to go with Led Zepplin. For so many reasons it would take me to long, but this is only my opinion. You are right both were great. But Zep was a band so ahead of their time, they didn't even get air play on the radio, until stairway to heaven, and to this day Zep's cd's are top sellers. They came out in 69!!!!! Think about how uptight alot of people were with their lyrics!
As for talent Plants voice was one of the best ever!!
Lyrics again I go with Zep, do you know alot of their songs were old blues songs. I really mean old like back in the 40's blues, Muddy Waters......What group considered heavy back then could take Whole Lotta Love by Muddy and do what they did! Not to mention You shook me, and others. Ck. out Muddy Waters he was a huge influence on many rock bands and blues men, EricClapton, Rolling Stones oh the list is endless! Hands down on influence, when Zep. came out oh my God, we were like wow!!! Where did this great sh-- come from! Besides Hendrix who ever heard a sound like theirs back then!! Emotional again yes, when Plant lets it out, it gives me the chills!! Guitar Page is a genius in the top 10 no doubt! As for live performance who could ever compete with Zep's energy and the crowd went crazy all the time. I would have to say Zep was a complete band, no one over shadowed the other, all were equally talented and it would not have been Zep without just them. That's why when Bonham died, they did not try to replace him, how could they, one of the best drummers ever, it was all or nothing for them!
Sound OH GOD even the old lps could blow you away!!!! Now remastered it's beyond reproach.
Video clip forget it, let's go with their movie A PLUS ALL THE WAY!
Well gave it my shot, thanks love talking about great music!
But I have to say Queen was like watching not just a band, but a show, they had extreme uniqueness! But I just don't feel they made the impact of Zep. It was time for change, revolution etc. and they blew us old hippies away!!!
