Well, there's slang and there's slang. Some of it is very base and offensive, unlike 'thou' and 'art' and 'lol'.

Some people wrongly base their decisions off of the stereotype of who uses the type of language. Typically, slang is grouped with gangsters and the people who misbehave in class. These people usually have lower scores. Old english is usually related to poets and writers who are thought of as geniuses. Frankly, I think the hole judge-them-by-their-language thing is stupid.

Old english is what we base the english language of today on. Slang is OK when used prperly and at the right time. I think I answered a question of yours earlier, it just seemed like yo were trying too hard.

i think mostly because the people who used those words proved themselves to be smart by writing novels and plays ie shakespeare, however, the people that use slang today, have not used it for anything worthwhile. some slang however, is completely accepted, so it really doesn't make sense for it not to be accepted in written works. for example, everyone uses the word"like" instead of said and"gonna" is also used very often.
