From downtown it is about 900 miles to Jax, and about 1180 miles to Palm beach. When I lived in Jacksonville it took me around 13.5 hours each way to drive, when I go to Palm Beach it takes me about 17 hours each way. I drive over the limit, and I stop only for gas, and to use the bathroom, so it would take at least a few hours longer if you were to drive the speed limit, stop to stretch, eat, get caught in traffic jams...ect. Pensacola is approximately 740 miles from downtown, so it would really matter where in FL you were going.

I drove it in 16 hours. Its not a bad drive, its an easy drive but Georgia goes on and on and gets real boring.
My advice is listen to an audio cd like Harry Potter. These talking books are great and you won't even notice the long drive.
Good places to stop near STL are Paducah, KY and Metropolis, IL.
Paducah is a really cool artists colony and Metropolis takes on a Superman theme and is a neat place to stop by.
