Personally, these are my favorites:
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Garden State
Before Sunrise & Before Sunset
Cinema Paradiso
these are all non-traditional, with Garden State maaaaybe being somewhat so.
They are all excellent, if your taste in movies leans towards solid filmmaking and realistic, heartfelt characters.
[edit] I'm gonna throw Amelie, Brokeback Mountain and Lost in Translation on that list as well. they are all also non-traditional love stories, but still very very good.

Career Opportunities (Jennifer Connely and Frank Whaley)
Alot people don't credit Frank enough in this movie since Jennifer Connely is in it, but they both gave good performances. Frank was responsible for most of the comedy in my opinion. Another good John Hughes movie.

My favorites are A Walk to Remember and The Notebook... Both made me cry and both made me wish I had a boyfriend just like both of those girls did.

City of Angels - For someone to want to be with someone that much that they will give up everything, even for a moment with them is totally awesome. I think it is so romantic and so sad and Nicholas Cage and Meg Ryan play fantastic parts

I would have to agree with Sarah W. Somewhere In Time. Come on a man falls in love with a woman's picture. Finds a way to go back in time to be with her, then gets forced back to his own time, only to die for her. Let alone she lives out her life without him. That is just the story. The sets, music, scenery, as well as the costumes. Make it a wonderful romance. My description does not do it justice. You have to see it to believe it.

I don't know about "of all time". . . just looking through my stuff. . .I like the movie "Giant," bc they have problems w their marriage but manage to work them out. Also I like the miniseries of "Pride and Prejudice."
One movie that IS a little sappy is "Nana." I don't even understand exactly what's going on, but when Hachi and Nana go to the concert and she is remembering how she left her boyfriend I just cry my eyes out, every time!
