I see horrible people on the television. Murderers, rapists, child molesters, I am a man that believes that society in whole should believe in the effort of preserving life, but these jerkheads are roaming the streets, and you can't tell me, that not even once, you've never thought, "Someone should just kill that guy." What are your thoughts?

Sure I've thought it. But, it's a really bad idea. Just look at our history of vigilante justice. 99% of it was meeted out to innocent black people.

I don't think vigilante justice will ever be openly acceptable, but I do believe we are reaching a point where people wish someone would take care of all of the human-shaped vermin infesting our cities and towns.

There is a series on television called DEXTER that debuted this past year. I found it interesting as it features a man who is, secretly, a serial killer who works FOR the police - he only targets other serial killers. That he is perceived as a hero by viewers and that it is a very popular show tells me that people WANT someone who has the cojones to clean up the mess Out There.

I mean, yes, we all think that, and that's why our justice system employs the death penalty in some states. But death is a pretty harsh penalty, you have to agree, and there's no way to circumvent these people sitting on Death Row for a long time before getting killed by cutting down on the time spent on them - it's very important that we insure we're right about their crime before having someone killed. Where we should be cutting down time and money spent in order to devote more time to the expedition of the execution of these murderers is instead by lowering sentences for more petty crimes, such as marijuana use. I'm not saying marijuana should be legal, but up to 20 years of jail time? A lot of time and money for that pothead that we could be spending on bringing someone's murderer to justice, I say.

no we should not resort to that ....but the idea of years and years on death row and thousands spent in appeals is crazy...

For the one downing the judges....they don't make the laws to suit themselves...they have stacks of books they HAVE to go by and laws are made by the ones YOU vote in office....Judges follow state as well as federal laws as to even how long a term can be imposed....then most are settled between lawyers again not the judges

Crime is actually going down all the time, its just that we are able to report it easier and so we do. Its more about fear than actual danger. The world has always been a dangerous place but these days the real dangers are our own sick lifestyles leading to obesity, car accidents and pollution.

The horrible people you speak of are not the problem it is the Judges who do not do what we pay them to do. Instead of enforcing the laws they make up new ones to suit their personal beliefs.
It is my personal belief that judges should be made responsible for the actions of repeat offenders.

Never! Keep the villagers with torches and pitchforks in your neck of the swamp. The rest of us will have to rely on an equitable justice system.

Actually I think " I wished the police would catch that person before he does that again." Thank goodness there are more of us than there are of you.
