The Amendments?

Did any of the amendments help ensure domestic tranquility? I mean the first 10 (Bill of Rights) . If u think anyone of them helped, please give ur reasoning..at least 2 hopefully 3...THANKS

The Bill of Rights wasn't written to insure domestic tranquility. It was written in response to the states' objections to a strong federal government.

Whether or not any of the amendments actually ensured domestic tranquility would probably depend on your own view of governmental authority. I would argue that the second amendment did much to keep the peace, because an attempt to disarm the citizens would likely have resulted in a second revolution. A similar argument could be made for the third amandment. The ninth and tenth amendments reassured the state governments that the federal government wouldn't try to dominate them, thereby diminishing the desire of each state to leave the Union.

If, on the other hand, you take the view that a stronger government ensures tranquility, I can't think of anything in the Bill of Rights that helps. But that could just be my own bias.

Given the ways that Americans are educated and inundated by media these days, you'll find this difficult to accept, but the citizens of virtually every other country in the world will testify that the second amendment, giving the citizens the right to keep and bear arms, is a powerful disincentive to abusive government. If you don't think so, you haven;t read your history. Every modern despot has first confiscated the arms of his citizenry.

The twenty first amendment was specifically passed to attempt to stanch the tide of criminality that followed the prohibition of alcohol in the United States. The country had become lawless and desparate during Prohibition, and the 21st was ratified specifically to make the country more tranquil.
