i want to compare the nuber of trees that are in toronto now with how many there were 5 or 10 years ago

As foolish as, "How many hairs are there in your head?"
But the ratio from 1975 : 2005 is 9:8. It means that if in 1975, there is 9% trees in the whole of Toronto, now there is 8% trees.

I'm not sure of numbers, but there MUST be more trees in Toronto, because as of September 30th, 2004 the City Council passed a city-wide 'private tree' by-law that requires property owners to get a permit to injure or remove private trees more than 30cms DBH (Diameter at Breast Height). And of course these permits are $100.00 per tree. For more see:
