if you ever put up flyers for a service (not an event) how long did it take to get calls?

Unless someone needs a babysitter right away, I wouldn't expect an immediate call. A lot of people probably grabbed your flier for future reference. Be patient, you'll get a call.

Most babysitting is going to be for Friday or Saturday nights, and as a parent, I can tell you that I don't wait until the last minute to find a babysitter. I usually try to line one up at least 2 weeks in advance. So just be patient, and if you can afford it, pass the fliers out again next week. It's very possible some people just grabbed it without looking at it and can't find it now.

Sometimes you never get a call. This is because flyers are really difficult to grab customers. You would have to put up alot of flyers to achieve anything at all. I suggest you go to stop and shop and post a couple of flyers, but thats about it. Theres really nothing more you can do unless you find a place with large family gatherings. Maybe a church or a couple churches. But, I do think flyers are a waste of paper alot of times.

Why don't you make up a really catchy small poster and have the tear-aways on the bottom with your name and phone number on them and place these on grocery store bulletin boards, or wherever you see a bulletin board. Make them colorful and put a nice picture on it of children so as to catch a parent's eye.
I found babysitters that way.
