If you aren't looking to act, get into directing, set design, wardrobe, etc., then consider getting your credential to teach. You could get certified in teaching for drama, but you might also look at getting certified in special education and working with the physically handicapped. There is a great need for special ed teachers so you would always have a job, and applying theater it to a population who is not usually associated with acting or performance might be very rewarding for you and your class.

In my state (Florida) there are programs called Alternative Teaching Certificate Programs and in less than a year of night classes you can get professionally certified to teach. Go to your states Department of Education website to find out the requirements to teach in your state. That is the highest level of teaching, putting you on the same footing as those who majored in education. You would take the ESE/Special Ed subject area exam. I'd suggest being a substitute teacher in the classroom first to see if you even want to do it. Good luck! Teaching will offer you some steady money and benefits and give you blocks of time off--what every artist needs and wants.
