Javed Miandad played most number of world cup matches. He played in all world cups from 1975 to 1996.So the player playing most number of world cup matches is not an Indian but a Pakistani.

my friend sharat jain has made a good assumption that the person who has played the most number of world cups obiviously has played more matches. except that he is only half right. Sachin tendulkar and Javed miandad have both played 33 matches in the world cups, exactly the same number .
