Hey,
Polygamy is NOT a MUST. It is an OPTION which is allowed ONLY if the husband agress to treat his wives equally. Some Scholars even stress of getting the permission from the first wife before that.
People raise a hue and cry about Polygamy. In the west you can have multiple sexual partners until you settle down, which is termed OKAY to them, but when in Islam Polygamy is an option not a MUST, they deny.
In any given population, women are greater than men. More men are killed in wars. Biologically the life span of females is higher than males. New York has 7 million Gays, so this till reduces the number of males for females.
Now if we start pairing by 1-1, there would still be many who would be left behind.
So what will become of the remaining females who dont find a husband?? Either become a second wife to a married male and get social RIGHTS, Economic right, be respected in the society, produce off-springs that are legal and enjoy a healthy married life.
OR
Become a public property which is happening in the western society.
Which is better now?
Normally its the Gulf countries that are more open to Polygamy and they (even the females) have absolutely NO problem with this.

As many as feel like it. And they can live in any country but most are in Africa and the Middle East.

if u can afford but usually in the middle east/african or those descent. not all muslim pratice polygamy

cant tell how many but then i guess we do have sum here in South East Asia
