Moving to Hawaii...sounds like motivation enough!

How much stuff do have? A lot of clutter? You could start organizing little at a time, and toss stuff you don't want, or have a garage sale.

If it's actually cleaning that you need to do, wait until you move everything out and hire Merry Maids. It'll cost less than $200 for a move-out cleaning.

The desire to move to Hawaii isn't motivation enough? Put up a picture of whatever it is in Hawaii that you love the most, and when you find yourself sitting on your butt, look at it and get cleaning again. I hate house cleaning too, but it's easier when you have a reason to do it.

I have found that the best way is to start small. Don't say "I'm going to clean my house today" because it will seem overwhelming and you probably won't do it. Just say "I"m going to vacuum the living room" or something like that. By the time you vacuum the living room, the motivation should start kicking in and you'll realize that the things are dusty and you need to dust too. First thing you know, you'll have done a WHOLE lot of cleaning. (At least it always works that way for me)

Sometimes for me , I will become motivated to clean house if I buy something cheery for the decor such as fresh flowers in a vase maybe new towels for the bathroom or a new bedspread. These are also things that you can take with you when you move

First visit flylady.com - there are some very easy, doable tips there. For me, getting rid of the clutter was the biggest plus.

I would also ask a friend for help - its so much more fun for me to clean a friends house than it is to clean my own. Plus, 4 hands can accomplish much more than just your 2!

When I was getting ready to move, I started my cleaning by walking around the house with a huge trash bag and just tossing a bunch of junk. I made it a challenge to myself to see how many trash bags I could fill before trash collection day. In the end, this technique saved me alot of money, because you don't have to pay to move stuff you no longer have. Hope this gets you started.

How soon are you moving? If it's not for a little while, you could try www.flylady.net. You get a bunch of email reminders, including a mission for the day, 27 fling boogies, shine your sink, stuff like that. And she stresses not doing anything for more than 15 minutes. But of course if you get caught up in it, fling more or clean more! It's worked wonders for me.

Put on some Donna Sommer music and dance around the house like the White Tornado!

I am a bad housekeeper and I find that writing a list is helpful. The things get checked off faster then you think. Start in one room and finish that before starting on the next. Don't try to do too many projects at a time.
