So, most have already heard that Daniel Radcliffe is going to be in Equus. I'm just curious about the nude scene. Well, actually, just all nude scenes in live plays, in general. I've never been to one, and I was just wondering, how does that work, exactly? I mean, does the audience really see everything? Cause that seems just, woah..... And I also read that he's going to simulate sex... What would happen if an actor doing that, got, excited? Lol, wouldn't that be embarresing?.... Maybe I'm just kind of old-fashioned-minded?... But ok, I'm done with my random curiosity. =D

Julian McMahon once said he always told his sex-scene costars "I'd like to apologize if I get aroused--and I'd like to apologize if I don't!"

It's just acting....sometimes people do get aroused, and although it sounds embarrassing (and can be in retrospect), during the scene it's completely appropriate because you as that person should be aroused anyway.

People have been nude on stage lots of times. Now of course I can't think of the name of the top of my head, but Nicole Kidman was once nude in a play. And...I think it's Lady Chatterly's Lover that also has a prominent nude scene. My real question with Equus is how are they going to get the HORSE on stage? :-D

Sure, we do nude stuff onstage, and yes, we do get aroused. It's happened to most actors who take the risk of live sex scenes.

As with the horse, if you read the play (which I advise-its amazing) The horse is played by a person! Look it up online (if you can find something that doesn't have to do with Daniel), and in the stange directions that the playwrite wrote, they are people

I think the possibility of an actor in that situation getting "excited" is actually nil.
(And he may never get excited again, if you know what I mean.) Also, the nude body
in itself is rather neutral. A totally straight person may not be able to believe it, be-
cause of all the hype. But its all mostly MENTAL, the sexuality of it all. Even the physical aspects of intercourse are rather blase, when you come down to it.
Dont you agree?

For actors, this isn't really much of an issue. It's very easy to tell, when you first read a script, whether the nudity is REQUIRED, or merely gratuitous. If it's required, then you do it. Without hesitation.

Good acting is fearless acting, regardless of how much clothing you're wearing. Actually getting naked onstage is just a graphic version of what actors do all the time.

yes. he bears everything. he and a girl would go nude. as in stark naked. it would be embarrassing, but it takes courage, bravery, and a lot of guts to bear everything to a number of strangers sitting in front of you.

watch the play to find out how he does it. :)
