They are definitely making a run at the cup but as long as Thornton is in their playoff lineup they dont stand a chance he is the A Rod of hockey.

SJ lost a little grit with Parker and Nieminen leaving. On the other hand, Guerin is a pure goal scorer. If you were impressed by Cheechoo, watch what Guerin can do with Thornton feeding him. The Sharks pp just got stronger and that's scary.

This might be the sleeper trade of the day.

It was a great trade for San Jose. Guerin hasn't showed any signs of slowing down and he's on pace for about 35 goals. They may have traded a couple of good players to get him, but Guerin will play hard and be loyal to whatever team he plays for. He only time he leaves is if he gets traded or the team doesn't want to pay him what he's worth.

Its a great trade for San Jose. Guerin is tough, Guerin is actually fast and he is a great goal scorer. Take away a bad season at Dallas in his stats he is still a great player for a first line... I am not a fan of the Sharks but I know Guerin as a player, this should be great for San Jose and Thornton.

this is a great deal for the sharks:
1. guerin is proven scorer and leader
2. guerin is as gritty and can score more frequently as nieminen (who they gave up)
3. powerplay is now more DEADLY (if they can get the puck in the zone)
4. weak draft (1st rounder given up)
5. the prospect they traded is too small (5'9) and is years away
6. the Sharks actually WANT to win with players outside the system
7. extreme depth at F (they can rotate smith, bell, goc, rissmiller in and out)

it was a good trade. they made good moves so far except for trading shaeffer to the penguins for a 7th rounder. i mean a 7th round pick? might as well give him up for free. guerin will help the offense because there are times where the sharks offense just sucks badly. rivet gives them a experienced playoff tested D man since all the sharks defensemen are all kids except for a couple. ehrhoff, carle, vlasic, mclaren are all pretty young.
gorges, nieminin, and parker werent doing much anyway.

Getting a proven scorer like Guerin can only help the SJ offense. They'll probably be missing those picks in a couple years, but the time is now for them to git'r done as they say.

The Sharks got Bill Guerin. That;s a great trade for them.

It's a good deal for the Sharks.

but a lack of solid Defense will not get them far in the playoffs this year.
