Since it was a re-install, your hard drive was formatted, and all your previous information is lost.
On the bright side, you now have a whole lot more storage space then you would have had with a Windows repair.

Unfortunately...not much. When the drive was formatted for the reinstall it wipeed youd data. When the XP reinstalled it would have written over those previous sectors wiping out data even further. Data recovery will be almost impossible. You can try to recover but will cost usually a minimum of $1400. I'd file a complaint and take them to small claims court for your losses. Unless you waived having your data backed up on your service contract. But any real competent shop should have backuped data without thinking twice about it, unless there was no other choice and the drive was unreadable. In that case they should have notified you first before proceeding. Sorry. Hope this helps.

The odds of data recovery are very poor, and if you want your data recovered after XP erased it you will need some really expensive equipment or software. By expensive I mean like 10s of thousands of dollars..

so your odds of doing it are like 1-10,000
chances of you wanting to pay for all of it 0%
I would recommend buying an external hard drive or Norton Ghost to back up your files, so you don't end up with a headache like your probably experiencing.

Not good. You could try an undelete util but I doubt it will get you anywhere. If they reformatted the disk, which they probably did, you are done, unless you want to pay thousands for a forensic data retrieval service.

Basically none, especially if the formatted the drive from the sound of it they did.

Sorry to hear about your loss, there is nothing worse.
