You can carry your camera any way you want, and take all the photos you want. So long as you take photos of the "tourist" things you should be taking photos of. >Your friends, family, statues, art, etc. >If you want to pose with slot machine(s) it's okay, just make it an empty bank of machine(s).
Don't take photos of security, money collections(around 5am the casino collects all coin and cash from the machines and tables), cashiers cages or anyone you don't know(Mr old guy with miss cutie, >that probably isn't his niece or Mrs. old guy). Don't set your camera on a gaming table, if you're playing.
Later: There is a mis-perception that you can't take a photo in the casino, you can!!! You can take a photo of a friend or family member at a machine. I have worked for two of the largest casino companies in the world(Harrah's - Hilton)>in the casino(gaming) end of the industry. and written a travel guide to LV in which hundreds of photos were taken inside casinos. You just have to be careful how you go about it, and not include people/objects/activities in your photos that shouldn't be. I know common sense isn't really all that commom, but if you use some, you will have no problem.

They won't confiscate your camera. They just won't allow photography around slot machines because they have to be careful of any tampering. But they were fine when my mom posed by her big win at a slot reel; they expect things like that. I have taken photos of interior decoration, displays, activities, etc. and see others do the same. The casino employees in special costume will even pose with you.

I took my camcorder with me everywhere I went. I even saw someone videotaping their friend playing blackjack (I was suprised they allowed that one). I took pictures inside the casinos, of the decor and one of my boyfriend playing a really big slot machine. If you set up a tripod or something, then that might be different.

For our website, I wanted some shots of the poker room. I was told by the pit boss "we don't allow photograpghy in the casino" that was followed by a whisper "if you do take a picture, just make sure I am not in it, ok?"
They will ask you not to. That is all.
What they dont want is a shot of all the people. You may find your boss with someone other than their spouse in one shot.
if its you at a machine, shoot all you want... Just becareful around others.

You can carry it on you, and you can photograph the attractions - just not the games or in the gaming areas.
I've been doing that since 1994 and never had a problem.
