- 2 negitives multiplied together gives a postive -1x-1=1
-2 positives multiplied will ALWAYS stay positive 1x1=1
-1 pos. and 1 neg. will give a neg -1x1=-1

in general:
an even number of negs gives a positive anwser no matter the number of pos.
an odd number of negs will give a neg anwser no matter the number of pos.

When you multiply a positive & negative, you get a negative. This is also true of division. :)

I KNOW this is right, but I'll try to find a web site for you to reference in the future...if I do I will edit this response. :)

I found some...see below...

Here is an easy way to think of multiplication and division.

Think about it this way. Positive is good Guys, Negative is bad guys. Coming to town is positive, leaving town is negative.

When the Good Guys come to town (+ times +) that is good (+)
When the good guys leave town (+ times -) that is bad (-)
When the Bad Guys come to town (- times +) that is bad (-)
When the Bad Guys leave town (- times -) that is good (+)
