I have an external modem connected to a my desktop. My kids will primarily be using the desktop. The laptop will be adults only and for banking and business. How do I connect to my DSL service? From what I understand, I will need a wireless router. Is that all? About how much do they cost, and are there any big differences in performance between various routers? Will my performance change if the kids are on the net at the same time as me? Thanks!

you can buy a wireless card for your laptop (if you laptop doesn't have one already), or wireless USB adapter. i would recommend the site www.newegg.com to check the price for the wireless router/wireless adapter. and no the performance should not change that much.

I have dsl also and my wireless router is in the living room. I use a wireless usb adapter to connect to the wireless router. my laptop is always in my room. both my router and adapter are the brand Netgear, and i bought them from www.newegg.com

P.S. you can also read the reviews on a certain product from newegg to see how good it really is. That should help out a lot.

You need to attach a wireless hub to your PC. A Linksys wireless should do. You'll plug the DSL into the HUB and then the hub to your PC. The Linksys will transmit the wireless signal. Make sure you also secure your wireless signal aftewards or you'll be giving free acces to your connection. Hope this helps.
