Not much. Broadcasters do not have to leave the studio. Many do have a journalist background. Jay Leno could be considered a broadcaster too. The implication is that there is a broad interpretation as to the focus of the person.

Broadcast Journalism though focuses on media. The Journalist uses the broadcast media to report the news. e.g. A print journalist is one that reports the news or news item via the printed paper like a newspaper or newsletter.

For instance the most noted reputable broadcast journalist in the world is likely Christiane Amanpour. She reports the same news event but she delivers it in such a way to make it coherent to the consumer. Her media is electronic. And she delivers a lot of valid information very effectively and efficiently.

Most people interpret Journalism to be one in the same thing. A print journalist (I did freelance work) doesn't need to worry too much about being too concise nor ordered. Print media has the luxury of having an editor filtering the faux pas.

Broadcast journalists.must report the very same event with a very short time period. And the reporter isn't likely to be too expansive on filling in the details. Both types of journalists must convey the same liturgy of the event.

So Broadcasting deals with the larger media while the Journallst deals with a specific area of that venue.

A degree in broadcasting is a degree that you get for learning the whole aspect of television or radio. It would be in programming the show, the contents of the shows, the operation aspects like production and on-airing, transmission, etc. The professions are such as producer, programme director, creative, etc.

You get a degree in broadcast journalism if you learn about, well, journalism. Mostly you would be in News division. You learn about news, researching and investigating a situation, what to do in the field, how you would summarise them. Basically, from the researching to the reporting. You will be a journalist or reporter.
