SVU fans: Why doesn't Olivia realize that Elliot is all the 'family' she needs?

Why does she think blood makes family? Doesn't she realize all the times he's put himself in the line of fire for her? I mean, does being the product of rape have to make you blind, too?

Anyway I bet she's gonna find out her mom lied and wasn't really raped after all.
