As far as I know,in all 50 states all ya got to do to get your permit is a written exam. Just go to your local DMV and you pay for a packet and get a book to study nad after passing the written exam you have already paid for the temp permit. I recommend HIGHLY that you take a Motorcycle Safety Foundation endorsed rider course either offered by local vocational schools or privately run schools. They will teach you proper safe rider techniques as well as defensive riding . The best part is after passing the course you get a waiver card and ya don't have to go to an examiner,s state riding test cause if ya put one foot down or fail to follow the instructions ya fail . I've been riden' for 37 yrs and took one of these courses and they taught this ol' dog some new / better riding skills, not to mention a break on insurance. Also they furnish the bikes you train on so if ya drop it its not your chrome / paint that gets scratched

Here in Virginia you just need to take a written test to get your permit. Then after 30 days you can take your Skills test on your bike to get your license. It's done in a parking lot with lines and cones set up. If you pass the riding part you get your license. The other option here is to take a course on motorcycle safety. After you complete the course, you get a certificate to take to the DMV and they issue you your license. A friend of mine just got her license in Tennessee. She took the written test, walked outside and got on her bike and they had her ride up the road, turn around and come back to the parking lot. End of test. She went back in and walked out with her license. I got mine in NY and I had to take a course and then a Motorcycle Operator Skills Test which is similiar to the test here in Va. The best thing to do is go to your local DMV and find out how your state does it. If you don't have any experience riding, dirt bikes for example, it would be well worth your time to take a course. Good luck and sade riding.

go to dmv, get the permit packet. pass the written and it's valid for up to a year in ohio. u can try for the endorsement at any time the permit is valid. if u decide to take it with ur own bike, and it's over 250cc's, then u need to go to the highway patrol's testing grounds. pass it, and the endorsement is ur's.
if u dont think u can hack the test on ur own bike, u could take the msf class, and do the test on their bikes. pass it and u get the endorsement. its that easy.
be advised, while u are riding on the permit, u are the only 1 allowed on the bike. always ride as if u are invisible. cars are not ur friend.

i think of you're able to provide up whining and get with this methodology. maximum states (alongside with Iowa) have been issuing bike endorsements for extra desirable than 10 years. I have been given my first endorsement from Indiana in 1994, yet i've got been driving motorcycles in view that 1963. in case you're an experienced rider, then you definately've had a number of opportunities interior the previous to get your endorsement and did not accomplish that. even though in case you think of you're an experienced rider, there continues to be advice to earnings at a bike risk-free practices commencing place direction. in case you do not e book a direction now, then all the summer season classes would be crammed too, and it is often yet another 3 hundred and sixty 5 days until you are able to now journey legally.

Written/computer test will get your "Riders Permit", then you'll need to take the riders skills test at your local exam station. It's should be at the same place your behind the wheel test is at.

Your valid class 5 license is your learners for a bike, I would suggest getting a little experience first, you can follow someone on a bike that has their class 6 as long as you are both on bikes, in order to get comfortable, and then go for your test.
