heres the deal, my laptop had xp pro, the hard drive went, the tech had to put in 2000 cause i didn't get the xp pro disk with the laptop.
i have xp on my home computer, can I use that disk to go back to xp on my laptop? they are both dell's. the 2000 does not support daul monitors for separate displays, for say KARAOKE, which I need

You can do it - however Microsoft will flag one to the computers for pirated software. You can legally use only one copy of Windows per computer.
Do a Google search for XP pro - should be able to pick it up for not too bad a price.

It's somewhat possible BUT you risck EULA violations and missing drivers for things on your laptop. If you're on the same drive you had xp on before, I would've just gotten a new drive when that went and used the system restore disc that came with teh computer which has xp pro (you said you had before) on it.
