Tattoos are personal.
You don't need to be an artist or have to ink up something meaningful yourself. Tattoos are a marking that follows you for years and years (assuming you don't laser it). A tattoo should not be the fairy you saw on page 7 of a tattoo magazine because you thought it was cute. It needs to speak to you. You need to be able to wake up in the morning, look at it and smile. An aesthetic tattoo will wrinkle and distort with time while a personal tattoo will age like wine.
I designed my tattoos to commemorate the stones life has thrown on my path until this day. Where I've been and where I am know. Sort of a reminder to breathe.

Depends.
Will this tattoo mean as much to you as it does now in say 20 years? Will this tattoos base never change, like, if you were to get a band one, are you 100% they wouldn't break up or randomly decide to take over the world? Then you've got a permanent reminder of this terrible band, say.

I think tattoos are great. I have one on my back it is a dragonfly and I got it when my mom was diagnosed with cancer because she likes dragonflies and bugs in general I guess.
I think they are better when they mean something, so put some thought into. It will be there the rest of your life so you better be able to enjoy it 20 years from now. Don't get something that is just a fad or looks cool at the moment, you will regret that.
Also, research your different parlors and ask people who have tattoos about where they got theirs and what their experience was like. You want someone good to do your tat.
Good luck on your decision.

I don't think tattoos on women are very attractive, but that's just my opinion. You need to take in to consideration that tattoos are permanent. Do the people you intend to attract, or the people that you care for think it's a good idea? Ultimately, it's your decision, can you live with it?

That's strictly a personal issue. I have one. My advice is don't get something that will embarrass you when you're older, avoid names unless it is your child, have it where you can cover it with clothing if you need to. A highly visible tattoo can keep you from getting some jobs. Think of what your life is likely to be like in 10, 20, and 40 years.

Don't get a tattoo on a whim. If you find one that you like, then you need to wait on it for a couple months, and see if you still like it then. That way, you don't get tattooed today, and end up hating it next week.

I personally love tattoos. I think it is the ultimate expression. For me it is a way to express my inner workings and have them displayed forever. It accentuates the body so beautifully. If you are a very religious person than it may be something that would cause contraversy. Many people think it to be the mark of the devil. I truely think if you are serious enough to get it done then go for it and make sure it is something meaningful to you.

No need to ask others, when you want to get tattooed. In my opinion, it is ugly.

Its hard to imagine yourself in the future, but if you're absolutely confident you'd want to see that on your skin when you're 51, go for it.
Remember people will label you because you have a tattoo, make sure you're comfortable with that.
