This is an answer you may not want to hear, but is one that results from 2 failed marriages and a busted engagement.

What I eventually learned was that in the beginning my family was happy with the toys and "things" that my hard work brought. I figured I was successful! As the years went by and the 70 hour weeks added up what they wanted was me. Because of my drive to succeed I was not there for them and I could not hear that they felt that my presence in their life was more important than a new car every other year.

Providing for your family means more than giving them "things." It means providing your emotional support and guidance as well. It means striking a balance between making sure they are comfortable and being a loving husband and father. This is a very difficult task and I'm not sure I've gotten it right yet, but it is well worth the effort. Good Luck!

Yes I do! I work my butt off and am barely making it. And I am too tired to enjoy anything of the very little that I do have. And it seems like the people that have beautiful homes and things look at me like I'm a lower class and I probably work harder in one day than some do in a week. I know its my fault for not being a doctor or nurse but to me my job it important and I just get angry because people don't realize what I do is special and hard work. I drive a school bus for children with special needs. wheel chairs etc. And I do trips for all the high school games that sometimes i don't get home until 11:00 p.m. and have to be at work at 5:45. Sometimes I even do trips on Sat. I think that people are sometimes so self centered that they fail to recognize the fact that just because we don't do what they do for a living doesn't mean we don't deserve the praise and acknowledgment.

Yes, I quite often feel very unappreciated by society and my family. Don't know why. I work 2nd shift and then come home and clean and cook for the next day. Wish someone would tell me why no-one appreciates all that I do.

Used to feel unappreciated by my family, husband, employers. . .Now however, I work as if for the Lord and not man. Therefore, I have refocused from who and where I receive that "pat on the back."

People are people and as people we are often unsatisfied because we seek others to fill voids that only GOD alone can fulfill. So, you can do all you can do for another and still not receive the appreciation you seek for your efforts (and they not receive the satisfaction they crave). I had to come to the end of myself by seeking GOD and receiving his grace, love, and peace.
