I am 60. married 27 yrs and I would never want to be without my husband, Not that I couldn't take care of myself or make it on my own, but because I love him to death and if that makes me the weaker sex, then so be it. Women have proved to be the stronger sex. I bet you could never tolerate child birth, menstruation, PMS, raising children and holding down a job. cooking after work, cleaning up after children. I wonder, how long it would be before you ended up in an asylum. When my former husband died, I raised my 4 kids for a long time, went to college, and held down a full time job. Can you do that? Weaker sex????. I DON'T THINK SO.

I used to think I didn't need a man for support but after being married for 11 years I realize that Its OK to NEED a man as much as you want him in your life...you have to admit though that a man needs a woman to balance him out as much as a woman needs a man. As for the weaker gender...I used to be offended by that till it was explained to me properly. A woman is weak like a delicate priceless vase that needs care and respect. It doesn't mean she is weak in spirit or personal value it is actually the opposite.

Anyone who thinks women are the weaker gender has never been around a man when he's sick. Good lord!!! You'd think they were dying!! Anyway, truth is, we need EACH OTHER. Works both ways. We both get what we need from the other person.

HA! Having a man around is nice... but I NEED one like a fish needs a bicycle. I'm independent and proud of it. I do not in any way view myself as a weaker... anything. I don't need a man's protection, I have my own stability. I have my own strength.
Thank you.

In some ways...yes. I like to be independent and be able to take care of myself, but I like a man to take care of me in a sense that he's protecting me at night from danger...knowing that I'm better off with him by my side than being by myself. It's nice to have a strong, warm man to hold you and comfort you while you relax in his arms...feeling like you could melt away into peacefulness.

Here's the thing Sandstorm, when my dear strong husband, (now ex) got a wild hair up his nether-parts and came home one fine day announcing that we were all moving to Colorado, with NO prior discussion at all, I told him that I wasn't and neither were the two little boys at my feet. He packed up and went to Colorado, secure in the secret knowledge that we would have to fold up and come chasing after him for our "security" So I went out, got a job, a place to live and life continued without him without much of a missed beat. Three months later, when he came back, because things didn't work out like he thought they would, he was mad at me because he figured out that I didn't "need" him. Darn tooting, I don't want to be with somebody I need, I want to be with somebody I want. He never did figure that part out.

We do not need a man to take care of us cause we take care of ourselves quite fine and to think that some boys are even afraid of us.
