No - its for guys too...male dancers are always in short supply and get special treatment. They also get to hang out with lots of attractive, athletic, and graceful young women

Boys too. I danced ballet from the age of 5 until about 14 or 15. Helped me out a bunch athletically (basketball, baseball, pole-vaulting and hurdles) - and yes, with my ability to talk with and understand the way girls act, think, what they want, etc. etc In college, I took a tap class (had tap also during ballet years) - turned out to be better than the teacher, and I got to lead the whole class - VERY FUN. I was the only straight guy in there, and LOTS of pretty girls asking for my help non-stop.

Ballet is fine for both genders. Sadly, there is a stigma attached to males in ballet, (thank you to the Ballet Russes;) There are plenty of quarterbacks in this world who have learned to keep on their toes (he he) by ballet. A "girl" can learn balance.
Now, I would add this, ballet is fine for girls... AS LONG AS YOU DON'T PUSH TURN OUT. Listen to your body. Pushing yourself on turn out and to pointe too soon can harm your joints. You only get one body in this life. Take care of it!

It's for anyone who wants to do it. But are you asking for yourself or for a child? (I wouldn't force a boy to do it unless he was willing.) It's wonderful for developing grace and balance. I've heard of some football players who have taken ballet. But it might make some boys uncomfortable being in a class with only girls. If you're asking for yourself, go for it if that's what you want to do.
