As you age your skin produces less of the natural oil that helps it retain moisture. Dry indoor air can cause your skin to become dry, as can excessive bathing and housecleaning in hot water. Apply a thin layer of petroleum or bagbomb jelly, and wear thin cotton gloves to bed. Dry feet can benefit from this treatment as well. Use only mild soaps, such as Dove or Cetaphil. I've had this condition for years. Don't know what it is called. Regular hand cream didn't seem to work. I now use Chapstick that normally goes on the lips, but I use it to coat my fingers instead everyday. This seems to work. Also, in winter I keep gloves on my hands outside all the time. Best bet is to consult your doctor for the best treatment. Good luck.

first who told you it was a virus? doctors opinion? no. get one!
or do your hands get exposed to harsh chemical cleaners or other such harsh treatment because if they do you can reverse that by getting a soak solution for hands from a well stocked pharmacy and i love Body Shops HEMP HAND CREAM $22.95au
this is fantastic and works quite quickly (not b s rep)
if you can't get that get a natural based hand cream? don't know which part of the world you live in so can't actually recommend another product by name
don't need to spend lots of money be sensible and go natural

If it's a regular normal thing, use lotion or vaseline. (Vaseline helps dried skin.) But if it's a virus, try going the the doctors and get prescripted medicine that your can take or prescripted creams to put on. That might help it ease down.
