I have been reading various q&a's on here and some people say that they don't believe in certain lifestyles. How odd and uninformed. Am I to consider that I am righthanded and that is a lifestyle choice? Does that make any sense?

That is not what I am saying. I guess my question should be how can people be so stupid or illogical?

My righthand and I are happy. Thanks =)

Be righthanded was never a choice.

HuckleFairyHound is the prime example of the stupidity I mentioned. Being gay isn't about ramming anything, you dolt!

χριστοφερως - Not typical or usual at all, is it? Like I said I was born righthanded and it was not a lifestyle choice.

Just Too ... - I see you have asked a similar question in the past. When will people understand that being gay is as innate as eye color? Thank you for your insight.

What I can't quite understand is why people even call being gay a "Lifestyle" in the first place.

My being gay isn't how I live my life. It's simply a PART of who I am, just as being left handed is part of who I am....or blue eyed, or brown haired.

My LIFESTYLE or should I say my style of living is as a mother of a teenager, a partner, a daughter, a business owner/operator, a citizen of my country, my state, my county and my city.
I work, I pay taxes, I purchase goods and services.

Several things come to mind.

1) People fear what they don't know. Some throw rocks, both figurative and literal, at things they fear.
2) For a straight man, the thought of having sex with another man isn't natural. Some are intelligent enough to think, "But not everyone in the world is just like me." Others, however, can't quite stretch their minds that far and leap to the conclusion, "They must be sick to do that."
3) I personally do not recall being visited by the Sexual Orientation Choice Committee and being presented a choice: queer? Or straight? Do heterosexuals remember such a pivotal event in their lives? I don't think so. And yet, many think that, at some point, we lesbian/gay people decided to JUST BECOME QUEER. This simply doesn't make any sense. If being gay were such an easy thing to choose - like putting on a new shirt - then why couldn't the hundreds of thousands of people who prayed and begged God or their psychologists to 'heal' them simply choose to be straight?

I was one of those hundreds of thousands who prayed daily for God to 'heal' me. It finally occurred to me that the only healing that needed to take place was the healing of my own perception. Rather than praying, 'God, heal me of being gay!' my prayer changed to, 'God, heal me of hating myself!' And that's when my life really began to fall together and make sense.

Strangely, that's when my relationship with God began to make sense as well. It is impossible to enter into any kind of real relationship - human or otherwise - if you begin with the premise of 'I am a terrible person and deserve to be hated.'

A left handed person can learn to write with their right hand, but it will always feel unnatural to them and they will always have a natural preference to write with their left hand.

A gay person can engage in a sexual act with someone of the opposite gender, but it will feel unnatural to them and they will always have a natural attraction to the same sex.

Lifestyle is a term that some of those who are opposed to gay people have used to make being gay appear as a choice and not a natural attraction.

Hate, bigotry, racism, ignorance, and homophobia are learned traits. That's how people can be so stupid and illogical. They learned it from their parents, their grandparents, their friends, their religious communities, etc.

Not until we can eradicate those negative learned behaviors will there be true peace in this world.
