With writing a novel, you have to start reading books which are a target of your book project. This way, you can get a better feel on what your project will be about.

With publishing...?

That's a whole ball of wax in itself. In this regards, you have to play the savvy author and find out what will sell and what won't in this everchanging market. You have to check out and outwit the competition who are light-years ahead of you with the book you have done, and get an agent's attention through an endless series of query letter correspondances--and make them believe that you have something fresh and original which will bring in the booku bucks.

Otherwise, you'll only be fishing in an empty pond for the rest of your life.

Of course, if you can't break into traditional publishing, you can always self-publish your books.

What I do is turn on my favorite music and sit with my laptop and freely write. The music helps me because it causes me to feel and I can write that down and it turns into the points I want to make. I have been working on a book for a couple years now about the things that I have been through. I suggest though that you write in 3rd person or else you will have to get permission from people that you speak about in the book.

First you have to write the outlineof the book. Then you have to add details and type a hard copy. You make sure the hard copy is how you want it and then you send it in to a publishing company (which you could find on the internet) and the publishing company will get back to you.

Start with a word. Then go for a sentence. Write a paragraph.
Write everyday, the same time every day. It takes time.
There are a lot of ins and out to writing but first you have to get yourself disciplined to get words down on paper.
Start now!

You need to start writing before you worry about publishing. Good luck.
