There would be fewer earthquakes. Hawaiian islands are volcanic and plate tectonics aren't a big factor. The plates are not constantly in motion. imagine pushing on a big cement block: for a long time it does nothing and when you finally push hard enough, the block shifts a few inches (and you probably fall down). When it shifts, you have an earthquake, but only very rarely.
