Hey that's awesome that you're getting back into it!! I play French Horn as my main instrument as well as the flute, trumpet, yada yada yada and I would pretty much die if I didn't. But all you need to do is perhaps go to a concert preformed by unprofessional musicians perhaps in your community and during intermission go talk to some of them or go to a musical and talk to the pit orchestra during intermission or after wards and make some friends and find out what they belong to or how they hear about these things. And try to ask the Bari Sax player if possible! This way you'll be getting the information you need, making some friends, picking up your instrument again and enjoying a beautiful concert!

As far as getting back in shape, when you are purchasing your instrument, get lesson books from the simple stuff all the way up to what looks like a challenge for you. Go through them as a memory jogger, and to get your mouth back in shape, and to get into the habit of practicing again. Play the easy stuff until you are good at it...then move through the books until your skills are what they were.
From there, as far as performing again...it would depend on where you live and how reliably you can find these people, or commute to them to participate.
In a big city there might be any number of rock bands or jazz ensembles that are looking for a bandmate. You might fall into the community orchestra. In a church, you might be able to work your way into a worship band.
If you don't live near a city, you would have a harder time finding a place to play, or you would have to commit to schlepping yourself to the city on a regular basis after finding a group to play in.

Not a similar situation, but, you could buy a sax or baritone fairly cheap on ebay. My friend Monica plays and she found one fairly cheap on ebay and it is still in good condition. you can go to most music stores and they can tell you about private lessons. After that, you can ask them where you could join a local band and play in concerts. Or you could go to college to learn how to play an instrument and become a band director. I hope i helped you.

Just pick it up and start!!! Practice & it will probably come back or a lot of it will! There are garage bands all over if you just look. Maybe you could sit in with them sometimes just for parctice.

I suggest calling your local high school and speak to the music director to see if they know of anybody willing to give lessons.
