The lights work. I had the alternator replaced about 6 months ago. Could it be the starter? If anybody can help I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks so much

This happened a few days ago but when i turned the key I heard several clicks, had a jump start by AAA and it started right up. I just thought it was strange that this time I only hear one click. I'm a girl who knows nothing about cars, so thanks to everyone who has responded to my question. I'll try jump starting it and see if that works. I'll let you know.

Yes it's your starter if your doing the work your self take the starter off the car and have the auto parts store test it. but i'm 99% sure it's your starter what needs replaced or your batt
good luck

First, try to jump your car with cables. If the
car won't start with a jump, it may need a
battery or other things, such as the starter.
You can also find car groups online. If a jump
start won't start the car, then it could be the
starter but that would need to be diagnosed
by someone who has car knowledge. If you
have AAA, they now will come to you and will
test your battery, and if your battery is bad
they will sell you one right where you are. Also
some car parts stores will let you test your
battery for free (call around). It could also
be your alternator. Good luck.

How can it be the starter if jumpstarting works? It's a dead battery or loose connection. If it's a dead battery, it could be bad or the alternator might not be working. Don't take anything off for testing. Someone with a voltmeter can tell you exactly what's wrong in two minutes.

check battery -- make sure the cables are tight & not
corroded -- try jumper cables to start car & have battery
checked to see if it will hold charge -- how old is battery ??
check starter -- my experience a faulty starter will make a
series of clicks , not just single !!

it sounds like the battery cable might be loose or corroded over on it id try tightening them or cleaning them, and see if that don't help it usually this is the sound you get when you got a dead battery or a bad connection on one,it could be just a loose wire, but check it out,it may be a simple repair, and you may also have to get it jumped off if it has run the battery down on it,good luck,i hope this help,s.

check your wiring, try turning the headlights on, then have someone watch to see if they dim when you try to start the car. If they do check you battery cables. If they are tight check the wiring to the solenoid

Have the battery checked. Sounds like you have a dead cell.
